The “Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn” area is the first ever alpine region to be claimed as UNESCO world heritage. It includes the longest glacier in the Alps and is surrounded by the imposing peaks of “Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau”. The blue markings on the map allow one to make out how close the Grimsel pass is |

Innertkirchen is the starting point for pre-alp hikes and high-altitude tours. A wide-spread network of bicycle and mountain bike routes completes the selection of roads available in the “Grimsel-Susten-Furka” pass areas, (a dream for motorcycle riders). Or would you prefer to hike through the “Hasli” valley up to the Grimsel along an old mule track? The “Sbrinz” route allows you to relive days of old! |

With the aid of public transport, one can reach a number of quite-varied hiking areas. One can organise/ plan a day trip rather easily (see Getting around). Accommodation for larger groups or companies can found in one of the very well equipped “Berghäuser”. The hut finder can inform you over the various routes and houses. |
